City Band Productions hit Downtown San Diego in full force on the night of Tuesday August 11 for the premiere of ‘Simple Twist of Fate’, their 2015 submission to the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project. Written for the Screen and Directed by Ramon Vasquez Jr., Simple Twist of Fate stars Seth Marshall, Laurence Brown, Jennifer Scibetta, Teresa Suarez Grosso, Taylor Koster and Andrew Dean Pearson and screened at the Reading Cinemas Gaslamp 15 Theater.
The theater lobby filled with filmmakers, as they walked the Red Carpet and posed for pictures. The City Band Productions team had their Poster on display, with a bit of technology magic to make it more interesting: Augmented Reality. The attendees were encouraged to download 1 of 2 apps, point their smartphones at the poster and watch it come to life!
A buzz filled the auditorium, and after a moving and encouraging introduction from the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project Producers Duane Tramell and Robyn Schatz Sarvis, the audience was treated to a variety of films by San Diego filmmakers. Laughs, shouts, gasps of surprise, and applause filled the room, telling the filmmakers that their hard work and dedication were surely appreciated.
This year’s after-party took place at the Horton Grand Hotel in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. After a short walk to the hotel, with their Poster in tow, several of the City Band Productions actors and crew partook of the food and beverages provided. Networking was at its best, as filmmakers mingled amongst tables while they waited for Duane and Robyn with the results of the evening. CBP was awarded the ‘Spirit Award’ for the best Marketing (Augmented Reality poster) which stood proudly at the doors of the venue. Simple Twist of Fate was named 2nd Place and Runner Up in the Audience Choice Awards for their group. The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause and shouting from everyone in attendance.
City Band Productions is extremely proud of their 2015 submission, and looks forward to future endeavours.
